Brotherly love

Flare was walking home one day when he heard the sound of angry screams from behind a tree. He decided to investigate and see it was his brother Emerald, angry, holding back tears, and clutching a beer bottle in his hand.

Flare:    Emerald?

Emerald:   Huh!?! What do you want!?!

Flare:   Are you ok?

Emerald:   IM FINE! JUST LEAVE ME THE F&@$ ALONE!!!!

Flare:   Emerald! Take it easy bro....there's clearly something wrong....what happened?

Emerald:    What happened....you wanna know what the f$&@$ HAPPENED!?!

He slams the beer bottle on the floor, shattering it instantly. He struggles to hold back from bursting into tears.

Emerald:   YOU REALLY WANNA KNOW!?! IM ABSOLUTELY REPULSIVE AND WORTHLESS!!!! THAT'S WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!!!!

He slams his fist into the tree as hard as he can as tears start to drip down his face and onto his black shirt.

Flare:   Worthless? Repulsive? What made you ever think that?

Emerald:   You.....and Marcus.....you've got everything to make you happy.....many friends.....a wife....children.....a family....a family that loves and cares for you....and what do I have? Nothing....NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!

Flare:   What!?! That's crazy....you do have friends...and a family!

Emerald:   DON'T YOU DARE LIE TO ME YOU GOD DAMN BASTARD!!!!!!!!

Flare:   IM NOT LYING!

Emerald:   YES YOU ARE!!!!!! 

Flare:   .............

Emerald walks over to the lake and stares at his reflection in the water. His eyes were swollen red, appearing that he's already been crying for some time. His fur was all rustled, and the stench of liquor was on his breath.

Emerald:    Who am I kidding....you don't really care for me....no one does! Look at me....I'm....I'm a monster.....a freak! My soul is forever consumed in a wave of darkness and loneliness! No matter what I do....I can never truly make myself happy....it's one of the main reasons I drink......to forget those memories....but no.....it always wears off....and I remember once again who I am....a purple nightmare......how could someone possibly care for AN UGLY HOG LIKE ME!!!!!!

He slams his fist into the water and bursts into tears. Flare couldn't believe what he was seeing. His brother Emerald....the tough brood prideful warrior....was crying....as if his life meant  nothing to him. Flare walks up to him and grabs his shoulder.

Flare:   Emerald.....

Emerald:   Just please Flare.........just leave me so I can die!

Flare:   No! I won't leave! In fact, I'll never leave! You know why?

Emerald:   ...................

Flare:   Because I love you! Dammit Emerald, you're my brother and one of my best friends! You claim that we all don't care for you but we do! We all love you and can't imagine life without you! It breaks my heart seeing you like this! I will never leave your side! I'll be with you until I can no longer draw breath in my lungs!

He hugs his brother tightly and closes his eyes.

Emerald:   W....why are you saying this?

Flare:   Because you're so important to me! I'd do anything for you brother! I'd even give up my life if it meant saving yours! I love you.........please.....don't ever forget that.....

Those were the most touching words Emerald had ever heard. He hugs back his brother and smiles. For the first time in a long while....Emerald felt happiness overcome him.
