The Passage of Gem Ch.14

Soldier:   Ummm....sir?

Morgan:   What is it now?

Soldier:   We're detecting a large quantity of robot soldiers approaching the shields we placed up.

Morgan:   Can it hold them?

Soldier:   Of course....only a strong amount of force can.....oh no....

Morgan:   What?

Soldier:   Something else is heading for the shields.

A large golem-like machine walks up to the shields and roars with anger. Metal Sonic, along with Quadral Zon, walk to the security camera, feeling quite confident in themselves.

Metal Sonic:   Attention Rebels....you've fought long enough...but now it's time for this war to end! Surrender now or the blood with drain all over this landscape. I advice you choose wisely....our new weapon, the Cyber Brigade, loves violence.

Cyber Brigade:   AGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Soldier:   Good god......

Soldier:   What are we suppose to do?

Soldier:   It's just too much!

Soldier:   I don't wanna die!

Morgan:   Silence! What are we? Soldiers or cowards? We may not be like Marcus, or Emerald...or even Flare for that matter....but dammit....we are not cowards! That metal bastard wants to end this war? Well I say bring it on! I don't know about you....but I'm sick and tired of waking up every morning....realizing that this isn't a dream! No more! He breaks down those shields....we show him what we're made of! Today....this war ends! Who's with me?

The room was silent for a few minutes, but one by one, each soldier grabbed a weapon and stood tall. Soon, everyone raises their weapons and cheers. All were no longer scared to die....they were now ready to kick some robot ass!

Morgan:   Everyone! Get to the tanks! Now!

Soldiers:   YES SIR!

Metal Head sits on his mobile throne, bored waiting for an answer from the rebels.

Metal Sonic:   They truly are pathetic....we attack now...

Cyber Brigade throws his fist into the shield, causing it to shatter like glass. Once he did, the large army of soldiers charge for the rebel base. Inside, everyone, including Morgan, armor's up for the assault. He receives a message from Jake.

Jake:   My team has assembled. We're on our way back.

Morgan:   Good....and hurry too.....we'll hold them off until then.

Jake:   Got it...oh..and Morgan?

Morgan:   Yes Jake?

Jake:   Don't you dare die on me!

Morgan:   (Smirks)   Trust me....if I die, I'm taking Metal Sonic with me!

Morgan gets into his own tank and prepares to open the doors.

Morgan:   Do not be afraid! They are nothing but bolts and wires! We'll send these hunks of junk back to hell where they came from!

Once the doors finally open, everyone charges out to attack. The tanks crush several robots as they make their way to Metal Sonic, who's watching from the back on his throne, with Quadral Zon next to him.

Metal Sonic:   What in Mobius do they plan to accomplish?

Quadral Zon:   I'm not quite sure....this'll be interesting to watch.

The tanks manage to handle the wave of soldiers, but all of that changed when Cyber Brigade began to fight. One punch from his fist was all it took to destroy a tank before him. With him out on the battlefield, Morgan was losing men fast.

Morgan:   Dammit! Huh?

Cyber Brigade runs up to Morgan's tank with his fist held high. With all his speed, Morgan barely manages to jump out of the tank as Cyber Brigade smashed it in half. Morgan stands up stares at Cyber Brigade, who stares right back at him.

Morgan:   ........

Before he attacks him, Cyber Brigade is knocked to the floor by a tank shot, giving Morgan a chance to run off to another tank. Once getting inside, he is shocked to see a dead soldier clutching to the controls. Morgan pulls him away and lays him down.

Morgan:   You fought well soldier....now it's time to rest....

Morgan gets on communications to plan out the next move.

Morgan:   This is Commander Morgan....in Tank 1075, can anyone read me over......

Soldier:   Sir, that big ass beast is crushing the tanks like they're toys!

Soldier:   No matter what we do, we can't get to Metal Sonic with that thing in the way!

Soldier:   He won't stop until we're all dead! Huh? Oh no...no no....stay...AGHHHHHH............

Morgan:   No!

Soldier:   What do we do know!?!

Soldier:   Half of the team is dead! Oh god it's a nightmare!

Morgan:   Don't lose hope now! We just need to hold up for a little longer before Jake's team shows up! Huh?

Morgan sees Cyber Brigade roaring as he kills twenty soldiers with a sonic screech. The blast was so powerful it shattered their bodies into dust.

Morgan:   God......Metal what have you done!?!

He knew it was a suicide mission, but Morgan had to do something. He moves the tank up to the monster and opens fire. Cyber Brigade deflects the shot instantly and rips the tank in half. Morgan couldn't escape this time. He's grabbed by Cyber Brigade, feeling his ribs being crushed by the monster's grip.

Morgan:   Aghhhh!

He was for sure that he was finished, until a sudden swipe of light caused the Cyber Brigade to scream in pain and release Morgan. He could no longer stand up, but could tell who his savior was....Jake.

Jake:   What did I tell you? I said don't die on me!

Morgan smiles as Jake picks him up.

Morgan:   Just shut up and get me outta here. Huh? What's that?

He looks up to see jets fly over him.

Jake:   Hope you don't mind but I called in a little backup as well. Amethyst, do you copy?

Amethyst was in the lead jet.

Amethyst:   Copy that, let's finish the rest of these tin cans!

The jets fly down and opened fire on Cyber Brigade and the other robots. Metal Sonic was not amused.

Metal Sonic:   Persistent little creatures, aren't they?

Quadral Zon:   Now what?

Metal Sonic:   Hmmmm.....send in the twins.

Quadral Zon:   Are you serious? Those two are insane.

Metal Sonic:   True, but that's just what I love about them.

Quadral Zon:   Fine....I'll call them in.

Jake runs back to a safe location and places Morgan on the ground. He looks around him to see a few familiar faces.

Morgan:   Clark? Gizmo?

Clark:   You were expecting Sonic?

Gizmo:   We should've never left the base. We could have prevented the carnage!

Morgan:   It's not your fault....we should've been more prepared.

Jake:   After getting my team together, I called in Clark, Amethyst, and Gizmo to bring in reinforcements from other sectors. Don't worry, we will end this!

Morgan:   The question is why would he attack now? Is he trying to prove something?

Jake:   Not sure....but we'll figure that out later. I'll handle the big guy. Clark, Gizmo, stay here with Morgan.

Back in the base, David was resting in medical after his surgery from his last battle. Cole was next to him, watching the fight from the window.

Cole:   Damn....we can't stay here much longer....come on David...I'm taking you outta here.

Before he could however, a robot goon smashes through the ceiling if the room. It stares at Cole and grabs him by the throat before he could grab his gun on the counter. Cole closes his eyes and waited to be knocked out, but instead heard a gun shot. He looks at the robot to see a bullet hole right between his eyes. He then looks over at David, who was awake and holding the gun. The robot releases Cole and falls to the floor.

Cole:   David?

David:   We have to leave....now!

Back on the battlefield, Jake prepares to face off against Cyber Brigade.

Jake:   Wow...you're quite an ugly fellow aren't ya?

Cyber Brigade:   AGHHHHHH!!!!!

Jake:   Let's dance....FINAL FUSION!!!

Once transforming, he prepares to fight Cyber Brigade.

Jake:   Come at me ugly!

Quadral Zon:   Damn.....

Metal Sonic:   Soldiers are fading fast Zon.....summon the twins....

Quadral Zon:   Yes sir....but as you know, it takes time to summon them from their dimension. Also...the fact that once the King and Queen find out....

Metal Sonic:   I could care less for Nightmare and Negative.....using their children for destruction isn't even a crime to them.....bring them forth!

Zon draws out a summoning circle and chants a spell from a book. As he did this, the sky became dark, causing everyone to stop fighting and look over at the purple light shining down on the circle.

Jake:   The hell?

Morgan:   Who turned out the sun?

Clark:   I've got a bad feeling about this.

Lightning strikes formed around the circle as a dark portal ripped through the ground, causing two dark figures to emerge before the battlefield. Once the portal closed, the figures were revealed to be two young adults, both hedgehogs, one being a male with purple fur with black lightning streaks on his quills, and a female with grey fur and purple highlights on her short hair.

Christopher:   Well.....look what we have here......
